Gameplay

Rebels: Source is a multiplayer mod for Half-Life 2. You and your teammates play as the rebels defending against relentless assaults from the combine in round based gameplay. Can you hold out against the combine assaults long enough? You can't do it alone!

Rebels: Source has a basic gameplay, but it can be expanded into much more advanced ideas. Most maps are a capture the flag with NPCs, although you have to defend and can't advance once ground is lost. Once dead, you cannot respawn until your team loses (all rebels die, or all flags are captured), or you manage to defend until the end of the round (win; the server decides how long rounds are).

Classes

There are three classes you can pick from. You must wait until the next round until the classes take effect (defaults to soldier).

The three classes are:
Soldier: has body armor and armor, making them tough.

Medic: automatically heals nearby teammates, making them vital in a long fight.

Support: great at close range with the shotgun and can resupply nearby teammates, making them vital in long fights.

A good team requires all 3, and it's difficult to survive a long round without all of them working in tandem.

Maps

cp_valley: a rather direct on defensive level. The difficulty scales up quite a bit as more players are in the game.

rs_apartments: a tiny map, with a lot of choke points, except for the windows. Those windows tend to rip up even the most organized team.

rs_citadel: an even tinier map. You can try to escape, or put up a last stand fight.

cp_trainstation: the combine won't take it easy on you now, they called in the big guns.

Server Hosting

When starting your own server, make sure that sv_lan is set to "0". Also, make sure a firewall is not blocking Rebels: Source, and if you use a router, make sure all ports are correctly forwarded. Checking all these settings should ensure that other people can join the server.

Rebels: Source was designed with the intent of being multiplayer and singleplayer at the same time, so there a server variable that can adjust the difficulty: mp_difficulty. It is used as a multiplier to how many players are in the game. For example, if there are 3 people in the server, and mp_difficulty is set to "2", the difficulty would be set to how it would normally be when there are 6 people playing (3*2 = 6).
