Quick Start Guide

There are many things about Follow Freeman which are completely new, features which many players will find confusing and annoying unless the game is understood and setup correctly. One fundamental difference between Follow Freeman and other fps multiplayer games is that the games are played over a series of levels (we call this a chapter) and the players weapons, ammo, points and extra lives are saved at the end of a level and then loaded for the next one. So for the first time ever, all the tactics and immersion of a single player game can be enjoyed in the realm of multiplayer coop.

Here are the golden rules of follow freeman

1. ALWAYS SELECT THE MAP YOU WISH TO PLAY VIA THE READY-ROOM
1a. ALWAYS START THE SERVER ON THE READY-ROOM
1b. ALWAYS USE "GOTOREADYROOM 1" TO RETURN TO THE READYROOM

The save / restore system and the scoring system and the teams system all work only if you enter the maps by voting for them in the ready room.

to support this we have added a console command so that players can return to the ready room from anywhere in the game to adjust  the settings and go again. the command is

"gotoreadyroom 1"

and if all players enter this the map will change to the ready-room.

2. CHECK THE SETTINGS BEFORE YOU VOTE

The chapters available vary a great deal in challenge and size, co-op with high difficulty is great fun but in Battle-Zone team battles some players may find it too much. Elimination mode also has a huge impact on the game-play experience (in our opinion its the only way to play co-op) so check the dynamic information boards placed for your convenience near the spawning area and the voting area

3. INFORMATION INCITES COOPERATION

In the ready-room by the windows are 2 information consoles with details of the different voting options. There is no time limit in the ready-room until the first vote is cast, so take your time to chat with the other players and setup your next game cooperatively.

4. THERE ARE LOTS OF OPTIONS FOR SERVERS

All the new game-play features and controls that we have added to this mod are, we feel an evolution ( or maybe revolution ) in cooperative game-play. We have made almost every feature and timer controllable by the server admin so that they can configure their server to the type of play they like and turn off the features they don't like.

5. PERFORMANCE

With the huge amount of action taking place in some of the levels some players may experience slow down unless they have a decent gaming pc and connection. many players can improve the performance by configuring their settings (like rate convars and video settings).

6. THIS GAME IS NOT YET COMPLETE. THIS IS A BETA

We haven't finished this development so some features will be coming in the future which will bring together various aspects of the game which have not yet been fully implemented. We are releasing a this to get feedback from players so we can make the mod the way they like it. If you feel something ruins the experience then don't just accept it. tell us and we can try to fix it.

7. HDR Bug

Some maps (the penetration mod) have an issue with HDR rendering so we advise players to disable HDR by going into options -video - advanced - and select HDR none
