Game-play features
Game feature
1 Smooth Gameplay
Half life 2 was designed as a single player game and just making it work
in multiplayer
doesn’t give a smooth game experience, We hope to make modes of play
which can be as good for a group to play as the original Half-Life is to
play in single player. To achieve this we have edited every
single map in the game to make it work smoothly in the
cooperative game and preserve the great story and game-play of the
original single player game. We have also edited many of the game
entities to suit our new game modes
Game Feature 2
Elimination Mode
When Elimination Mode is on, if a player dies he joins the spectators
and must wait for the other players to complete the level or if all
players are eliminated they must start from beginning of the level.
Game Feature
3 Credits
Players can earn extra
lives which can be used to re-spawn the player where they died.
Game Feature 4
Points System
Players can earn
points from
killing NPC's and completing the objectives. This brings a competitive
edge to the gameplay - and begs the question, 'Who is the best at
Half-Life 2'? not only as individuals but as teams from 2 to 6 player
pushed to new hieghts of cooperation by the common goal of a cooperative
high score
Game Feature 5
Dynamic Multi Player Vehicle Spawning System
Multiple players can utilise all the vehicles in the game. All vehicles
can be identified by the name of the player driving it - and all will be
targeted by NPC's! Vehicles are created and destroyed on the fly to
handle players joining servers at any time. Our vehicle code also allows
third-party mappers to easily make Co-operative multiplayer levels using
vehicles and their associated weapons.
Game Feature 6
Multiplayer Save And Restore
Players are able to go from one level to the next with their game
information intact. Stats such as points, individual NPC kills, health,
and - of course - weapons and ammo are stored at the end of each level,
to be restored at the beginning of the next.
Game
Feature 7 Multiplayer Ready-room
Follow Freeman has a ready-room where players can go to prepare for the
game, vote for which chapter they want to play and adjust the settings
and modes of game-play with a unique in-game configuration system. This
area could easily be extended to give smooth access to other episodes of
half-life and even third party single player mods which can now be
played in coop through our mod.
Game
Feature 8 Dynamic Spawn points
Spawning of players has been updated so that each player arrives at a
unique spawn point, making 'spawn-frags' a thing of the past.
Game
Feature 9 In-game Player info
The in-game HUD includes player information
- game mode, ranking, points, lives and a multi-use timer. The HUD also
displays every kill whether made by a player or an NPC.
Game
Feature 10 Synchronised Gameplay
In order that players not miss any gameplay, and for a racing start to
the level, the server notes how many players are in your team and when
the new map starts, players are frozen until all connecting players are
active and ready for the start of the mission. At the end of a level,
when the 1st player touches the changelevel, the end level countdown is
begun - all players must then rush to complete the level before the
countdown is over to receive
bonus points.
The lengths of these timers are adjustable via console variables.
Game
Feature 11 Advanced Multiplayer NPC AI
All NPC's will interact with any of the players, or whichever player is
closest to the action. Scripted elements from the game have all been
edited to work in a Co-Operative multiplayer environment. Including
special code to handle mission vital allies like barney and alex in
co-op.
